A day out for all the family.
There's plenty for the adults - shopping, workshops, demonstrations and delicious food and drink, but what about the kids?
For all ages, you will find drop-in activities around the showground - new this year is the Circus Skills workshop, from Saturday to Monday, with Thomas Trilby and Solo Circus. From Birmingham to Bethlehem and Cardiff to Cairo, they have entertained with their skills, comedy and interaction that appeal to all ages and backgrounds. Their workshops at Living Crafts will be your chance to have a go at juggling, plate spinning, diabolo, hat tricks, hula hoop and even unicycles. From the youngest to the oldest, there's something for everyone to try!
In the main workshop pavilion (Birch Pavilion) younger children are invited to take part in chocolate decorating, block stamping or they can create a mosaic picture. Whilst these are mostly drop-in activities, older children, teens and adults can pre-book workshops by going to the workshop page - link below. Our expert tutors usually keep some places that you can book on the day if you want to wait and decide when you get to the show. But be quick, because they will soon sell out!
From 6 years old, you can create a charcoal drawing in the style of Van Gogh, led by Kathy Evershed of ArtShed, a recent contestant in Sky's Landscape Artist of the Year. Kathy won her episode with her painting of Royal Ascot. This is a class for all abilities and Kathy can adjust her teaching to suit the individual. Best to pre-book this one. You can also visit the International Feltmakers Pavilion for the opportunity to make a felt crown fit for a King! They have lots of options for all the family to be involved in these drop-in sessions.
From age 7 maybe you'd like to have a go at sculpting an elephant or an owl guided by Clay with Carole. Carole was a former contestant on the The Great Pottery Throwdown. Of course, this workshop is open to older children, teens and adults too. Carole uses air drying clay so you can take your masterpiece home with you as a lasting memento.
Other pre-bookable workshops for older children and teenagers include Lino Cut Printing, Stone carving and Zentangle.
