Collagraph Workshop

A Collagraph workshop with Kim Major-George, highly respected British collagraph artist and illustrator. A collagraph is produced when a printing plate is textured by scouring, peeling back and sticking on textured materials such as wallpaper, sand and organic matter, eg. rice and seeds. The plate is then sealed, inked and pulled through a press before being hand embellished.

Each workshop will be about 1 hour long and the finished work can be taken home when dry. (Max. of 8 people per session. No children under 8 years).

Three exciting workshops are brought to the show by The Pottery Place

1. Mosaic Workshop

Choose from a magnificent collection of Italian glass tiles, jewels and nuggets to create an original work of art.

2. Ceramic Painting

Try ceramic painting; choose your piece, paint it with underglaze colours and have it professionally glazed and fired.

3. Decopatch

'With the magic of Decopatch... transform the ordinary into art!'
Decopatch is a playful adaptation of the French word decoupage meaning to cut out. It is the creative art of assembling, pasting and varnishing paper to decorate objects, from simple designs to complex works of art.

Clay Modelling by Clay Days

Lucienne de Mauny shows you the skills and techniques required to model in clay. Work can be taken home at the end of the day.

Paper Making Workshop

An opportunity to create your own handmade paper, incorporating flowers, recycled materials and rope!

Watercolour Lectures

Expert watercolourist, Tony Cowlishaw will be giving timed demonstrations of his skills. Tony specializes in watercolours of rural landscapes, coastal and marine scenes. Come and watch the expert in action, aided by video close ups as he works and talks.

Linda Wain – Internationally renowned wildlife artist

Let Linda show you how to observe and draw a wild animal; get tips and hints on how to paint backgrounds and sky, fur and feathers.

Potter's Wheel

Something you've always wanted to try? Now's your chance! Throw a pot on a potter's wheel, with expert advice and tuition on hand.

Aprons provided!

Raku Firing

From a range of prepared vessels, select your pot, choose the finish for your glaze and watch while it is fired in the outdoor furnace. No two pieces are ever the same. Firing takes about 10 minutes.

Stone Carving

Simon Keeley, who has 15 years experience, has won various prestigious commissions and is a lecturer at West Dean College, will be demonstrating his work - try the art for yourself and see just how easy it isn't! There is more information about Simon on our Sculpture Park page.

Make and Take your own beautiful silver ring. Come along and meet Ruth Facey, who runs her own mobile jewellery workshops and let her show you how to make your own ring that you can take home with you!

Rubber Stamping Workshops

Sandy from 'Stampeezie' will be running four great fun rubber stamping workshops throughout the weekend. If you've not given it a try, come and see how creative you can get with a rubber stamp!
